When did Planet Verge begin?

Planet Verge began as a print magazine back in 2002.

Why is PV no longer in print?

We had so much success with our moves to digital media, that we're deciding to stick here.  So we printed one final, FULL COLOR PRINT ISSUE. It featured a preview of the Skeleton Crew/Joey SouthSide comic, LIFE IS HELL and a cover story on Circa Survive.  From now on, besides our MySpace pages, you can get the latest reviews, out and about tales, debates, etc. right from our staff on our NEW BLOG!!!!!    Below is a review from Black Velvet magazine on Planet Verge.

So one more time,  where will you be posting interviews and reviews?

On our blog: www.planetverge.blogspot.com

Will you archive the print issues online?

That's the plan. But realistically....it takes a lot of time!  Here are samples of PV pages when we were in print. Click thumbnail to enlarge image.

I heard you also do PR....

In 2003, we launched a PR company to help local bands (back then it was called Planet Verge PR). In 2005, it became Audio Crush PR and we work with a whole bunch of indie (Perfuma, Val Emmich, Hero Pattern) and signed bands (The Finals, The Parlor Mob). We're quite pleased. When you listen to them, you will be, as well.

Has there ever been press on Planet Verge?

Along the way, Planet Verge built up a stellar reputation among the indie music community. Then it spread like a whore about to get laid to the mainstream and we get featured in Teen People magazine (RIP) during the summer of '05.  Most recently, PV President, Joelle, modeled for Marie Claire magazine (Dec. 07 issue).   Did we mention Planet Verge was featured on an episode of The Style Network's  The Look For Less, when  Jordana interviewed Butch Walker ? 'Tis true.  Bands love us, too.  Example:

Who is on your staff?

A bunch of rad females in the industry!  Our staff members get known throughout the media, whether it's by writing for publications such as Alternative Press, hosting red carpet events or photographing models, Planet Verge staffers get around!  Meet all the girls at www.myspace.com/pvgirls or www.planetverge.blogspot.com .

What's this about a Planet Verge show?

Planet Verge teamed up with CinemaElectric to create "On the Verge," weekly indie music news reports for their Portable Vinyl show. It's hosted by our writer, Shira Lazar. Each show was available for download to your mobile phone (VCAST) during the summer of '06, but now you can view archives on our You Tube page Speaking of the You Tube page... It's where you can not only watch "On the Verge," but get exclusive interview clips and live performance videos from shows we cover. Exciting!

How much do you girls love Butch Walker?

So much that we're digging thru our print archives and posting our tribute to him right here for you because the whole Internet world deserves to read it.

Didn't you also do a tribute to Eighteen Visions when the band broke up?

Yes! Right here.

Where are all the photo galleries?

Way back in the day, we didn't watermark our pictures and people started stealing them for fan sites and not giving us credit. So we removed them. But you can still see pics on our MySpace pages and blog!

Why is this Web site so ghetto?

Because Joelle doesn't know HTML and she's too much of an impatient control freak to rely on anyone else. Got a problem with that?

Do you care about things besides music?

Yes. Tigers are going extinct. Help save them!

So there you have it. This is will basically archive and link everything we do

It's great that people from New Jersey are still doing stuff they want to in the music industry. So many people and businesses are doing it for fame and popularity. I don't think you're doing that."

- Anthony LaSala, President Genco Records to Planet Verge
